Now, I know, I know — a lot of serious fashionistas do not consider the designers featured in the now somewhat controversial Project Runway to be real designers, for whatever reason.? And it’s easy to think that, because so many of the winners kind of … disappear.? Jeffery’s doing well, Christian is all over the place, but many other winners have lost the spotlight to the people who one second and third place beneath them.? The fabulous Austin Scarlet has outshone Jay, and both Daniel V., Nick, and Santino have gotten more recognition than … whoever that girl was.
As to the last full year of Project Runway, though.? I don’t … remember the winner’s name, even though I just watched all the reruns today.? Was it Leanne?? Anyway, it was the girl who had all those maddening flower petal outfits coming down the catwalk during the finale.? Everybody else seemed to love them — meaning, they got a fair bit of attention.
So I find it odd that, lo and behold!? One of Andy & Debb’s outfits for the Spring and Summer of 2009 looks disturbingly like all of that girl’s designs.? Guys, if you are going to copy, try to copy a good idea, not a gimmick.? That shirt’s making me seasick.
